UG course in Sanskrit was started with the establishment of college in 1993. The course outcome of Sanskrit promotes the appreciation of this rich and scientific language, crucial to the understanding of several Indian cultural, philosophical and religious traditions. The faculty approaches on the study of Sanskrit not merely as a language and as a subject but also sensitizes students to its role as a repository of Indian culture and ethical values. The relevance of studying Sanskrit has been increased in the recent times and can offer students many avenues of intellectual and professional growth. The knowledge of Sanskrit is useful in many professional areas like media - Sanskrit news reading and other programme based on ancient culture, management -knowledge of Indian system of management of life, ayurveda, yoga, poetics, music, theater, history, philosophy of languages, linguistic, computer linguistics, animation industry and translation work. Students of Sanskrit are in demand in museums, manuscript studies and fields related to archaeology.
Faculty members also encourage students for fluency in speaking the sanskrit language. The department organises inter-college and inter-class competition every year to boost confidence of students and give them sufficient exposure to develop their overall personality. The students of the Department show great participation spirit in various inter-college competitions. They have won prizes in Sanskrit debate and poetry recitation competitions. Young and innovative minds are invited for nourishing deep interest in Sanskrit studies.
